who is the legend of literature in nigera?

hay members what is happening while don't you people post in a question or a topic to make this group more active and making sure that the objective or goal of this group could be accomplished? i urge you to be more than active so as to spread knowledge.
i am posting out this question due to an argument that arose between two guys(or should i say elite?) one was saying that it was wole Soyinka who deserve all the glory regarding African literature and as he put it Soyinka is the "icon of literature in Africa" while the other one was against it and saying that it was cheane Achebe that deserve it all saying that he as made Africa literature made known to the whole world. and calling him the icon of African literature.
