JUST LIKE YESTERDAY; HAPPY CHILDREN's DAY.

I am beginning to belief the saying that opportunities comes in a man’s/woman’s life only once… whatever we are today, we all had our chances of making ourselves a better person in our society. It was just like yesterday when we used sands to build castle for ourselves, just like yesterday when we played hide and seek, just like yesterday when we sucked milk from our mothers dangling breast, just like yesterday when we were fed with values and morals that shapes a our lives, just like yesterday when we were reminded of the deeds of our heroes past, just like yesterday when Twitter, Facebook and other minor responsibilities couldn’t separate us from our parents, we played with plastic pistols and made airplanes out of paper… of those days
when going to school was somewhat some form of punishment, these and many more are what shaped us to who we are today…these were the things(opportunities) I wish the once behind us to experience, but it appears that even a two-year-old baby is thinking of money.
I am beginning to wonder, is that all about childhood? Were we just playing or being formed into what we are today…? I remembered those days, when we are being offended by our so-called friends, the next minute we are back in talking terms, laughing and sharing sweet and other food stuffs, although there were some of us who exhibited stinginess from childhood, but in all we all had a good hearts. Our growing up into a diligent child was the sole responsibility of the society/community then. I remember so well the fascinating fables we were fed from home and amidst our friends among which includes; that Santa Claus really exist and travels to all homes to give gifts, that once your tooth is off, don’t let a lizard see it else your tooth will refuse to grow, that eating while standing will prevent you from growing…etc.
It’s children day today, and usually I am found of passing a message on this day through my blog; www.richard4real55.blogspot.com. The message I have for us all on this year’s children day celebration is that we need not grow up but still retain that childhood heart, that forgives without hindrance, that doesn’t harbour evil thoughts about others, that doesn’t imagine bombing or killing fellow children or kidnapping… that doesn’t know the difference between Christians or Muslims or traditional worshippers, that recite the saying that ‘God made us all in His image to love Him, worship Him and be happy with Him forever in the next’ and not loving money and making that reason for our existence; sometimes I wonder, were we taught wrongly about the reason we were made?
Children are said to be gift from God to man, but not many men realize this; we maltreat these children, kidnap them, discriminate them and turn them into hawkers on high-ways in the name of ‘poverty’… My hearty happy Children day goes out to all of us who remain children in the heart and to every children in the world, may we be relevant in our society.
